Reports in Italy claim that Chelsea could make a surprising move to sign Cesare Casadei back from Torino in order to send him out on an immediate loan to newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town.
Could Casadei return to Chelsea from Torino?
Casadei spent two-and-a-half years on Chelsea’s books between the summer of 2022 and the winter of 2025, spending much of that time out on loan with Reading and Leicester City in the EFL Championship.
The former Italy U21 star would go on to make a total of 17 competitive appearances for Chelsea during his time in West London.
He returned to Serie A in the summer of 2024, joining Torino for €15m in a deal that also included a significant sell-on clause. Reports at the time suggested that the sell-on was worth around 25% for Chelsea, although Saturday’s updates from TMW claim that it is slightly higher at 27.5%.
TMW suggests that Chelsea could use this to their advantage to bring Casadei back to Stamford Bridge in a low-cost deal.

However, Saturday’s report claims that Chelsea would then intend to send Casadei out on an immediate loan deal to continue his development, with newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich mentioned as a potential destination for the 23-year-old.
Real Betis were also linked with a move for Casadei by outlets in Italy earlier this week.
